Disney Actress Christy Carlson Romano is recovering after sustaining severe injuries during a shooting excursion. The Even Stevens alum revealed that she was hospitalized on Feb. 7 after being shot multiple times in the face while celebrating her husband Brendan Rooney’s 42nd birthday in their hometown of Austin, Texas.
The actress posted on Instagram, “Yesterday was my husband’s birthday and I took him to shoot clay pigeons as a present. There was another party with us and they unsafely fired in the wrong direction and shot me in the face. @thebrendanrooney immediately sprung into action, assessed me, and rushed me to the hospital. I was hit in 5 places, one was less than an inch from hitting me directly in my right eye.

Unfortunately a fragment got lodged behind my eye and it is too risky to remove surgically at this time. Doctors will continue to monitor me (I can see normally at the moment).”
Christy Carlson Romano is an American actress, singer, and author best known for her roles in early 2000s Disney Channel productions. Born on March 20, 1984, in Milford, Connecticut, Romano displayed a passion for performing arts from a young age. She made her Broadway debut as a child in Parade before rising to prominence as Ren Stevens in the hit Disney Channel series Even Stevens (2000–2003), where she starred alongside Shia LaBeouf.

Romano also starred in the Disney Channel Original Movie Cadet Kelly (2002) alongside Hilary Duff.
In addition to acting, Romano pursued a music career, releasing the album Greatest Disney TV & Film Hits in 2004 and becoming the first person to perform as Belle in Beauty and the Beast on Broadway while still a Disney Channel star. She later transitioned into voice work, writing, and content creation.
In recent years, Romano has been open about her personal struggles, including mental health, addiction recovery, and financial setbacks. She created a successful YouTube channel where she shares industry insights, personal stories, and interviews with fellow former child stars.
