Academy Award, Emmy Award, And Tony Award-Winning Actress’s Injury Put Her In A Wheelchair

Actress Jessica Lange has been a Hollywood star for decades. Some of her most famous movies include “King Kong,” “Frances,” “Tootsie,” and “Blue Sky.” More recent projects include “Feud,” “American Horror Story,” “The Politician,” and “Marlowe.” According to IMDB, she also has three upcoming projects in various stages of completion.

While she’s been working fairly regularly in recent years, she’s also taking a short break. The Daily Mail obtained photographs of the actress being pushed through New York City’s Central Park in a wheelchair.

In the photos, Lange is accompanied by her friend, Susan Sarandon, and another woman is pushing Lange’s wheelchair for her.

Apparently, there is no need to worry about Lange’s health. In a statement, a spokesperson for Lange told Page Six, “Jessica is healthy and well, she is recovering from a leg injury she incurred at a dog park.”

It seems like the injury must have been somewhat serious to put her in a wheelchair, but we can infer that she is expected to make a full recovery. The spokesperson did not explain what happened at the dog park or what kind of injury her leg sustained.

While her upcoming projects make it clear that Lange has not retired from acting, in 2023, she told The Telegraph that she was thinking about retiring. She said, “I think I’m going to start phasing out of filmmaking.” When asked directly if that meant she was considering retiring, she said, “I am.” She added, “I don’t think I’ll do this too much longer.”

She also clarified that she was thinking about retiring not because of a simple desire to stop working or to slow down as she got older. No, she was considering retiring because she felt that filmmaking was no longer about “the art” but about “satisfying your stockholders.” She explained, “Creativity is secondary now to corporate profits. The emphasis becomes not on the art or the artist or the storytelling. It becomes about satisfying your stockholders. It diminishes the artist and the art of filmmaking.”
