This 96-Year-Old Grandma Dancing at a Wedding is the Most Uplifting Thing You’ll See All Day

They say that age is just a number, and we love it when that saying is proven true. There’s nothing more motivating that seeing someone in their 80s or 90s who is full of energy and in great health.

There are even some people in their 90s who are still working and literally running circles around their co-workers. This nurse, for example. She tried retiring a couple times, but it didn’t suit her. She loves her job too much.

Then there’s this grandma who learned a new dance on the spot. She was so impressed when she saw a little boy flossing. When he showed her how to do the dance, she caught on right away.

It turns out that there are quite a few spunky ladies in their 90s. Shirley Goodman is one of them.

Goodman rose to fame when her family posted videos of her dancing at a wedding on social media. See her in action below.

It’s certainly impressive how Goodman doesn’t miss a beat or a move. She’s perfectly in step and makes the dance look incredibly easy.

This video has well over 4000 comments on Facebook, and one of them reads,

OMG This woman is my mother’s lifelong friend and dance partner SHIRLEY G.!!!…SHIRLEY I RECOGNIZED YOU IMMEDIATELY. YOU LOOK FANTASTIC AND IT THRILLS ME TO PIECES TO SEE YOU ARE STILL DANCING.

The same person later updated her comment saying,

I just had a wonderful phone call from Shirley! She is overwhelmed that this video has gone viral but I’m sure she’s lovin it too.

She certainly is loving it. As she told Good Morning America, “I went viral and i feel fine.”

Goodman isn’t new to dancing. In fact, she’s been cutting a rug since she was just 8 years old. During World War II, she ran a dance studio in Schenectady, New York. Fast forward to 2019, and she lives in Sarasota, Florida, but she’s still teaching people how to dance.

Goodman dances every chance she gets. She travels to senior homes and senior organizations in the Sarasota area to teach the people there how to dance. She also makes sure she has her dancing shoes on at every family event.

She has been called the “Dancing Nana,” and she even has her own Instagram account. She regularly shares videos of her dance moves.

Her favorite dance is the “Tush Push.” One of the videos on Instagram shows her teaching her grandson how to do her favorite dance.

This is one grandma who isn’t likely to take up knitting anytime soon!
