Some people dream of being an actor or actress. The life might seem glamorous. It might be enticing to be rich and famous.

Not everyone who wants to become a successful actor ends up getting anywhere close to becoming a movie star, but sometimes, some people who never even thought about turning acting into a career have this dream opportunity handed to them.

Leelee Sobieski was just a child attending a private school in New York City when a casting agent came to her school and offered her the opportunity of a lifetime. The casting agent thought she had the acting ability he was looking for, and he was right.

At the time, Sobieski had never thought about becoming an actress or a movie star. She was always creative and pictured herself doing something artistic for a career, but acting was never the type of art she pictured herself doing.

When the opportunity to become an actress fell in her lap, she decided to try it, and she ended up landing multiple really big roles. If you’re a child of the 90’s, you probably remember seeing her star along side Drew Barrymore in the movie “Never Been Kissed” and seeing her in the title role in the miniseries “Joan of Arc.” Other memorable roles include “Deep Impact” and “Joy Ride.”

Sobieski leaned in to acting. She took acting classes and learned her craft. However, she still never really felt passionate about acting the way some people do.

When Sobieski was 19 years old, she decided to go to college. She enrolled at Brown University and stayed in the dorms. She didn’t give up acting to attend college, but she felt that it was important for her to go to college at that time in her life.

In the early 2000s, Sobieski continued to act, but she had an unfortunate string of roles in movies that were not well received. That might be enough for some actors to quit acting, but Sobieski quit for other reasons.

In 2010, Sobieski ended up getting married to a fashion designer named Adam Kimmel. They already had one child together at the time, a daughter named Louisianna. A few years later, they also welcomed a son, a boy named Martin.

In 2016, Sobieski told US Weekly that she quit acting mainly because she wanted to spend time with her kids. She enjoys life as a wife and mother.

Loving family life isn’t the only reason Sobieski quit acting. She also admits that there were parts of the job she didn’t like, such as sex scenes. She told Vogue, “Ninety percent of acting roles involve so much sexual stuff with other people, and I don’t want to do that.”
