Bethenny Frankel’s 49-Year-Old Interior Designer Found Dead In Her NYC Apartment

Interior designer Brooke Gomez is best known for her appearance on season 2 of the series “Bethenny Ever After” which followed the life of Bethenny Frankel. During her time on the show, which aired in 2013, Gomez updated Frankel’s $5 million loft in Tribeca. Besides Frankel, Gomez has also worked with clients that include Sigourney Weaver and Michael J. Fox.

On October 23, 2023, Gomez posted what would become her very last Instagram post. It’s a picture of the side of a building with the following message painted on it: There’s a future version of you that is so proud you didn’t give up.

Now, her followers find posts like this ominous.

On Sunday November 19, 2023, one of Gomez’s friends asked the superintendent of the building where Gomez lived to check her apartment, which was located on Madison Avenue at 94th Street in Carnegie Hill. At this point, it had been over a week since anyone had seen her in person, and her friend was concerned.

At this point, Gomez’s body was discovered in her apartment, and it clearly wasn’t looking good. Someone in her building called 911 just after 10pm. Police arrived and so did an ambulance.

Police do not suspect foul play, but Gomez was immediately pronounced dead. A cause of death was not disclosed right away, but it is now known that her cause of death was “chronic alcohol abuse.”

Gomez’s body was described as being in “an advanced state of decomposition” at the time it was discovered. At first it wasn’t clear exactly why that was the case, but now we know that she probably died more than a week before her body was discovered. Not only that, but she had a dog named Edie who survived and apparently used his owner’s body for food after her death.

The dog is going to be adopted by the superintendent’s wife, and will continue to live in the same building to keep his environment as close to what he knows as possible.

Upon learning the news of her death, Gomez’s design firm, Brooke Gomez Design, announced the sad news of her death. In a post on Instagram, her friends wrote, “We are saddened by the sudden passing of our friend, Brooke Gomez, a light that shined brilliantly on everyone who knew her.”

Gomez was born and raised in New York City. Her father was an architect, and her mother was an interior designer. She went to college at Brown University where she majored in Political Science, but ultimately, she followed in her mother’s footsteps and chose to make interior design her career. She started out working for her mother’s company before branching out on her own in 2019.

Rest in peace.
