What is it about wood stoves? They’re extremely rare to come across these days, but we love them anyways. Why? Because they give your food the wood-smoked smell and taste that is just mouthwatering. Sausage, burgers, veggies – they always taste better with the wood-smoked flavor. So if you have a gas grill, what do you do? Go out an buy a new grill? Instead, try this little trick to give your food the smoked flavor that you want on the grill you have!

 

 

Seems too good to be true, right? It’s actually a pretty simple hack! You’re about to be pleasantly surprised by how easy it is to up your grilling game this summer.

Here’s what you’ll need to get started:

YOU’LL NEED
– 4 cups of wood chips
– Tin foil
– Strainer

STEP 1: Take two of your four cups of wood chips and soak them in water for 15 minutes. Strain once 15 has passed.
STEP 2: Cut your tin foil into a 8 x 4 1/2 in. sheet. Pour the soaked wood chips onto the sheet and wrap it carefully, so no chips poke through.
STEP 3: Take the two cups of dry wood chips and place those on another 8 x 4 1/2 in. sheet of tin foil. Wrap that into a packet as well.
STEP 4: Place them side-by-side on the main burner of your grill for genuine wood-smoke flavor.

With about 20 minutes of prep and a few simple tools (some you may have at home right now!) you can make this magical packets that will add the smokey flavor of summer into all of your grilling favorites!
