Woman Who Lost Her Home in a Fire Wins $150K on a Powerball Ticket

Have you ever played the lottery? We know that the chances of winning are slim, but when the jackpot is high enough, it’s certainly hard to resist throwing our hat in the ring.

You may not know that even the royals have ties to a lottery winner. Meghan Markle’s dad won a Mega Millions jackpot back in 1990.

While winning the lottery can be life-changing if the winnings are big enough, some winners worry that their long lost friends and family will seek them out hoping their now rich relative will be extra generous.

In an attempt to remain anonymous, one such lottery winner in Jamaica actually showed up to collect his lottery winnings while wearing a Scream mask. Clever.

Other lottery winners seem to know how to strike it big more than once. Instead of hiding his identity, one such lottery winner is sharing his secrets to winning 7 large jackpots.

LeAndra Clay wasn’t using any special tricks when she played the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery. The only thing she had was faith that God would give her a winning ticket.

Clay lost her home due to a fire a month before playing the lottery. Ever since, she has lived in a shed. Yes, a shed. She was not able to afford to move to a proper home. She didn’t have many family members to help her out during this spell of bad luck.

What Clay did have was faith in God. As she told her friends, “I have the faith of a mustard seed. I knew that God would bless me soon.”

If you’re not familiar with the Bible, the mustard seed reference might be a tad confusing. First of all, a mustard seed is tiny. The reference comes from the book of Matthew in the Bible’s New Testament where Jesus says that his followers only need to have faith as big as a mustard seed (so, super tiny) for God to do something impossibly big for them. Basically, Clay was saying that she believed God would do something impossibly big to help her.

Turns out, he did. That’s right. Clay won the lottery! She had four matching numbers as well as the Powerball number which equaled a lottery ticket worth $150,000! The timing couldn’t have been more perfect. As Clay said, “He’s an on-time God.” She plans to buy a house and a car with her winnings.

Do you play the lottery? Do you know anyone who has won the lottery?
