Eagle-Eyed Viewer Saves Local Reporter’s Life By Pointing Out Concerning Lump on Her Neck

The last thing a reporter needs is someone pointing out a physical flaw in their body, especially with all the pandemic-related stories they’re broadcasting right now.

However, one viewer’s comments about a reporter’s physical ailment actually turned out to be life-changing—and life-saving.

It started when one Florida reporter Victoria Price was giving a news report, but instead of focusing on what she was saying, one viewer couldn’t stop staring at her neck. It seemed to have a lump on it—a lump that she’s seen before that didn’t quite have a happy ending. The lump was so concerning to her that she decided to write Price an email. The contests are below.

“Hi, just saw your news report. What concerned me is the lump on your neck,” read the email. “Please have your thyroid checked. Reminds me of my neck. Mine turned out to be cancer. Take care of yourself.”

Thankfully, Price took the letter seriously and went to get the lump checked out. Low and behold, the viewer was spot on with her diagnosis.

“Turns out, I have cancer,” Price later stated on a Twitter announcement. “I’ll finally be undergoing surgery to remove the tumor, my thyroid, and a couple of the nearby lymph nodes.”

With so much news reporting on COVID-19, Price admitted that she was much more concerned about making sure locals were up to date on the pandemic and definitely wasn’t thinking of herself. “My own health was the farthest thing from my mind,” she said.

Thanks to the viewer, Price was able to catch the cancer early, which means her treatment plan is very manageable. “Doctor says it’s spreading, but not too much, and we’re hopeful this will be my first and last procedure,” Price said, adding that she won’t be needing chemotherapy.

Price is extremely grateful for the viewer’s email. It’s scary to think about what could have happened had the woman not seen the report and not have contacted her.

“Had I never received that email, I never could have called my doctor. The cancer would have continued to spread. It’s a scary and humbling thought,” Price said. “I will forever be thankful to the woman who went out of her way to email me, a total stranger. She had zero obligation to, but she did anyway. Talk about being on your side, huh?”

It just goes to show, if you see something, say something!
