‘Vanderpump Rules’ Alum Couple Files For A Divorce After 5 Years Of Marriage

Reality star Brittany Cartwright filed for divorce from Jax Taylor on August 27.

Court paperwork obtained by Page Six shows Cartwright filed to dissolve their marriage. Cartwright and Taylor have a 3-year-old son Cruz.

Cartwright gave irreconcilable differences as the reason for the divorce. The date of separation is listed as January 24, 2024, one day before her 35th birthday.

Cartwright requested that the judge waive spousal support for both her and Taylor (45). In addition, she is seeking legal and physical custody of their son Cruz while allowing visitation rights with her ex.

Cartwright hopes to keep her properties which she acquired or were gifted to her before marriage and/or after their date of separation. The couple’s community property will be divided up later.

The ex-couple own many businesses together. Besides their tv show “The Valley” they also co-own a bar known as Jax’s Studio City and they have the “When Reality Hits” podcast.

Their separation was first announced in February which came at the time the couple would have been celebrating their fifth anniversary.

She talked about their separation on their podcast. She said “Yes, marriages in general are very hard and I’ve had a particularly rough year this past year.”“Jax and I are taking time apart and I made the decision to move into another home to take some space for the sake of my mental health.”

The final “Valley” episode provides insight into the couple’s marital problems.

Per Page Six, Cartwright said, “He was going out to the bar and stuff, coming home and having these horrible hangovers that would make him mean as a f—king snake.”

“Finally, after he’s already been screaming at me for hours… I packed me and Cruz up and we got the hell out of that house.”

“I just kind of hit this point where I started noticing everything that he did to me.”

Taylor has been open about having intense mental health and anger issues. This led him to seek help at a mental health hospital recently. His family is asking for privacy about Jax’s mental health condition at this time.

Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor are most known for their work in the reality TV world, in particular,  for their roles on Bravo’s hit series Vanderpump Rules. The show follows the lives of the staff at Lisa Vanderpump’s restaurants. This brought the couple into the spotlight, showcasing their dramatic relationship from the very beginning.

Jax Taylor, was one of the original cast members when Vanderpump Rules premiered in 2013. Known for his bad-boy image, Jax quickly became one of the most talked-about stars on the show. His turbulent relationships and frequent cheating sessions were a focal point of the drama.

Brittany Cartwright joined the cast in 2015 after she began dating Jax. Originally from Kentucky, Brittany was shown as sweet and down-to-earth. Their relationship was far from smooth; the couple faced numerous challenges, including Jax’s infidelity. Despite these ups and downs, Brittany stood by Jax. The couple eventually got engaged in 2018. Their wedding in June 2019 was a major event on the show, taking place in Brittany’s home state of Kentucky.

In December 2020, Jax and Brittany announced their departure from Vanderpump Rules, stating they wanted to focus on their family. The couple welcomed their first child, a son named Cruz Michael Cauchi, in April 2021. Later, the couple transitioned to “The Valley.”
