Todd and Julie Chrisley Speak Out After Being Convicted of Tax Evasion and Bank Fraud

When we think of reality TV stars being convicted and going to jail, the first person that we think of is Josh Duggar from the show “19 Kids and Counting.” What makes matters even worse is that it seems his parents even knew about their sons shortcomings before the show ever became a show. Yet the family portrayed themselves as upright Christians with morals and family values.

Now, another Christian family is coming under fire. Todd and Julie Chrisley, best known for their reality TV show “Chrisley Knows Best,” have been convicted of tax evasion and bank fraud. The couple could face up to 30 years in jail. Currently, they are paying for a location monitoring program which allows them to stay at home and only leave to go to work, church, court or medical appointments.

Todd and Julie recently spoke out about the conviction on their podcast “Chrisley Confessions.” Todd started by explaining that they can’t talk about any details of the case. He said, “I know all of you guys are wanting to know every detail that is going on in our lives, and I have to ask that you respect that we’re not allowed to talk about it at the present time.” Then he got personal saying that this time is “heartbreaking” for their family.

The couple explained that they are still trusting God to bring them through this. Todd said, “We still hold steadfast in our faith and we trust that God will do what he does best because God’s a miracle worker.”

The couple also thanked their fans and supporters for all the gifts they have sent them and even dropped off at their door; however, they discouraged fans from driving out of their way to deliver gifts to their home.

Todd and Julie plan to keep their podcast going as long as they are able to do so. Eventually, they plan to turn the podcast over to their children Chase and Savannah.

The second half of season 9 of their show “Chrisley Knows Best” is set to be released on USA this week. The show was renewed for a 10th season, but no word if that will change due to the conviction.

According to Todd and Julie’s lawyer, Steve Friedberg, the couple plans to appeal the court’s decision. Friedberg told PEOPLE, “They both remain strong in their faith and will continue the ‘fight’ until they are vindicated.”
