Toby Keith Revealed Gives Health Update

Toby Keith gave a health update before People’s Choice Country Awards in Nashville at the Grand Ole Opry. Keith has been battling stomach cancer. The singer announced on Instagram that he has privately been battling cancer since the Fall of 2021. In a previous update Keith, who has been receiving chemotherapy, reported that the tumor is shrinking.

In his latest update Keith shares: “I feel pretty good,” telling E! News before his performance “It’s a little bit of a roller coaster. You get good days and, you know, you’re up and down, up and down. It’s always zero to 60 and 60 to zero but I feel good today.”

Keith sang “Don’t Let the Old Man In” from the Clint Eastwood movie “The Mule”. The song deals with life, survival, and appreciating the blessings of the present “Try to love on your wife”, “Stay close to your friends”, and “Don’t let the old man in”.

During is award acceptance speech Keith said: “I want to thank the Almighty for allowing me to be here tonight, “He’s been riding shotgun with me for a little while.”

Toby Keith is a country music icon with a career spanning three decades.

Country star Toby Keith has been a long time advocate for children and families battling cancer. He helped found a nonprofit group called Ally’s House in honor of Ally Webb who lost her life to cancer shortly before her third birthday. She was the daughter of Scott Webb, one of Keith’s original bandmates.

Now, Keith is opening up about his own battle with cancer. He has been privately battling stomach cancer since fall 2021. He shared on Instagram, “Last fall I was diagnosed with stomach cancer. I’ve spent the last 6 months receiving chemo, radiation and surgery.”

He didn’t go into specifics about expectations for recovery, but he kept the post hopeful writing, “So far, so good.”

Keith had multiple upcoming tour dates scheduled over the summer, but those have been canceled. He didn’t mention the cancelations in his Instagram post, but he did explain, “I need time to breathe, recover and relax.” He added, “I am looking forward to spending this time with my family. But I will see the fans sooner than later. I can’t wait.”

The Ohio State Fair turned to Twitter to officially announce that Kieth’s scheduled performance on July 28 has been canceled and tickets will be refunded.

Keith also had two performances in June which have been canceled. The first would have been on June 17 in Wheaton, Illinois, at Ribfest. The second would have been the next day, July 18, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, at the 29th Annual B-93 Birthday Bash. According to a spokesperson for Keith, those tour dates as well as dates previously scheduled for July, August, September and November will all be postponed.
