Country star Toby Keith has been a long time advocate for children and families battling cancer. He helped found a nonprofit group called Ally’s House in honor of Ally Webb who lost her life to cancer shortly before her third birthday. She was the daughter of Scott Webb, one of Keith’s original bandmates.

Now, Keith is opening up about his own battle with cancer. He has been privately battling stomach cancer since fall 2021. He shared on Instagram, “Last fall I was diagnosed with stomach cancer. I’ve spent the last 6 months receiving chemo, radiation and surgery.”

He didn’t go into specifics about expectations for recovery, but he kept the post hopeful writing, “So far, so good.”

Keith had multiple upcoming tour dates scheduled over the summer, but those have been canceled. He didn’t mention the cancelations in his Instagram post, but he did explain, “I need time to breathe, recover and relax.” He added, “I am looking forward to spending this time with my family. But I will see the fans sooner than later. I can’t wait.”
