Three-time Emmy Award-winning Los Angeles news anchor Chauncy Glover has passed away at the age of 39. Glover, an Alabama native, had been anchoring at KCAL News since October 2023. His family, devastated by the sudden loss, shared the news of his unexpected passing with the station. His cause of death has not been revealed.
“We, Sherry and Robert Glover, along with Chauncy’s beloved family, are devastated by the unimaginable loss of our beloved Chauncy.” They added, “more than a son and brother—he was a beacon of light in our lives and a true hero to his community.”
Per PEOPLE, Glover, who co-anchored the 5 and 11 p.m. newscasts with Pat Harvey and the 8 and 10 p.m. newscasts with Suzie Suh, had just celebrated his one-year anniversary with the network last month.

Born and raised in Alabama, Glover graduated from Troy University with dual degrees in Broadcast Journalism, Music, and Theatre, as well as a degree in Public Relations. Known for his storytelling abilities and journalistic rigor, he earned three Emmy Awards during his career, which spanned several major news markets across the United States.
Glover’s path in broadcasting began at WTVM in Columbus, Georgia. From there he moved to Jacksonville, Florida, where he worked as a reporter and anchor. His commitment to impactful journalism quickly distinguished him, leading him to roles in larger markets, including Detroit and Houston, where he became a beloved figure. During his time in Houston, Glover covered stories ranging from national disasters to high-profile crime cases, building a reputation for his sensitive reporting style. One of his most memorable assignments involved covering the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey, where he reported from the front lines to bring awareness to communities in need. His compassionate approach to journalism extended beyond his reporting—Glover founded The Chauncy Glover Project, a nonprofit mentorship program dedicated to supporting at-risk young men in underserved communities.
