In 2022, the country band known as The Chicks (previously called the Dixie Chicks), set off for a North American tour. They enjoyed it so much that they scheduled another tour for the following summer in 2023. This tour was scheduled to take place in North America as well as Europe.

The European part of the tour went as scheduled in June 2023. The North American part of the tour was scheduled to kick off in July, and it did, but the tour isn’t over yet.

The Chicks were originally scheduled to take the stage in Nashville, Tennessee, on Thursday July 27, but that same day, just hours before the show was scheduled to begin, The Chicks announced on social media that they were rescheduling the show “due to illness.” The group apologized “for any inconvenience,” you know like getting a babysitter, booking a hotel, or other expenses fans might incur in order to attend a concert. The group also mentioned that they were working to reschedule the concert.

One day later, on July 28th, The Chicks took to social media to post an update. The good news is that they were able to reschedule the Nashville concert. The bad news is that the new date isn’t until September 23rd, and two more shows are also being rescheduled “due to illness.”

The group was originally scheduled to perform in Knoxville, Tennessee, on July 29th followed by a show the next day in Greensboro, North Carolina. The Chicks have postponed both of those shows. The Knoxville show is now scheduled for September 21st, and the Greensboro show is now scheduled for August 8th. Hopefully there weren’t any out of town fans who made special travel arrangements to attend these shows that were cancelled with very short notice.

No word on what “illness” caused the hiccup in the tour schedule or who is ill. The band consists of Natalie Maines, Martie Maguire and Emily Strayer.

Do you think The Chicks will end up deciding to reschedule any more shows? What do you think this mystery illness is?
