Target Announces That They’ll Be Closing Their Stores on Thanksgiving Day

When was the last time you shopped in a crowded store? We’re guessing well before the coronavirus pandemic began—and that will continue to be a trend for quite some time.

In fact, many retail stores are starting to think a few months ahead to the holiday season. And one of the most crowded days of the year for these kinds of stores is Thanksgiving and Black Friday. People can’t resist all the deals they can get and have historically lined the streets waiting for stores to open so they can bombard them.

However, one of the first stores to announce that this year will be looking a bit different is Walmart, which announced they’d be closing their stores on Thanksgiving this year. Not only did they want to ensure safety for their customers, but they also wanted their employees to prioritize family this year and allowed them the day off.

And now, Target is following suit with a similar announcement.

“The investments we’ve made in our business and our incredible team have enabled us to move with flexibility and speed to meet guests’ changing needs during this global pandemic,” says Target CEO Brian Cornell. “This year more than ever, a joyful holiday will be inseparable from a safe one, and we’re continuing to adjust our plans to deliver ease, value and the joy of the season in a way that only Target can.”

Of course, sales will still be available online through their website. So eat your turkey, relax with family, and shop from the comfort and safety of your home.

What do you think Thanksgiving and the rest of the holiday season will be like this year? Do you usually shop Black Friday sales at Target (or other stores) on Thanksgiving? Will you still be taking advantage of sales online?
