LSU pole vaulter Dillon Reidenauer tragically passed away in a car accident on Wednesday night, the university confirmed. She was just 18 years old.
According to local reports, Reidenauer was a passenger in a vehicle that was struck by a motorcyclist in Baton Rouge around 9 p.m. Both the car and motorcycle erupted into flames, resulting in the deaths of both individuals involved.

The motorcyclist was identified as 23-year-old Bodhi Linton, who, according to Daily Mail, had tragically lost his mother in a motorcycle crash last year.
The tragic accident is believed to have occurred when the motorcycle collided with the side of the car as it was making a left turn onto South Quad Drive.

Reidenauer, a freshman at LSU, was among Louisiana’s top high school pole vaulters during her time at Fontainebleau High School. She secured second place at the 2024 LHSAA State 5A Championships with a vault of 3.64 meters and previously finished fourth at the state meet as a junior.

A native of Abita Springs, Louisiana, Reidenauer was not only a dedicated athlete but also an aspiring interior designer, pursuing a degree in the field at LSU.
In a statement, LSU Athletics expressed their sorrow, saying, “LSU Athletics is heartbroken to share the tragic news of the passing of freshman track and field student-athlete Dillon Reidenauer in a traffic incident Wednesday evening in Baton Rouge. Our thoughts and prayers are with Dillon’s family, friends and teammates, as well as with those impacted by the loss of another individual who died as a result of the incident. We are providing resources and support to all of our student-athletes and staff directly impacted by this tragic loss.”
