Back in 1996, rapper Tupac Shakur was shot and killed on the streets of Las Vegas. Now, in 2023, someone has finally been arrested in connection to his murder.

According to Las Vegas police, the murder was an act of gang violence and happened due to retaliation after Shakur and Marion “Suge” Knight, the former CEO of Death Row Records, among others started to beat up Orlando Anderson, the nephew of Duane Keith “Keffe D” Davis. Shakur and Knight were both affiliated with Compton gang Mob Piru. Davis was affiliated with the Southside Compton Crips.

When Davis found out what happened to Anderson, he allegedly made a plan to get a gun and shoot Shakur. Davis, Anderson, Terrence Brown and Deandre Smith all got in a white Cadillac which pulled up to the car Shakur and Knight were in. Shots rang out from the backseat of the car, and Tupac ultimately died.

Davis was in the front seat and has refused to reveal who pulled the trigger, but he was arrested earlier today and described as the ring leader for the murder.

Davis actually confessed to his part in this crime back in 2009, but police were not able to use his testimony against him. He had a proffer agreement which means he agreed to provide information about the event but the information he provided couldn’t be used as evidence against him.

It has taken police all this time in order to find evidence they could use in the case.

Shakur was only 25 years old when he died. He released 4 albums, but 7 more were released after his death. His career was only five years long.
