You Can Live Out Your Childhood Dreams By Scoring a Stay in Scooby-Doo’s Mystery Machine
Do you remember watching the live-action “Scooby-Doo” movie back in 2002? If so, perhaps you’ve had dreams of one day seeing the Mystery Machine in person. Now, there’s a rare opportunity to do more than just see this iconic vehicle in person – you can actually spend the night in it.
Matthew Lillard, the actor who played Shaggy in the 2002 movie, has listed the Mystery Machine on Airbnb. He is offering 3 1-night stays in the coolest van on the planet for the low, low price of $20 a night. Reservations open on June 16th.
The Mystery Machine is parked in the hills of Malibu, California, with views of the ocean and the mountains. Lillard is very clear that this opportunity to stay in the Mystery Machine is not a contest. Whoever books this experience will be responsible for providing their own transportation to and from southern California.
Besides just staying in the Mystery Machine, this unique experience also includes a virtual meet-and-greet with Lillard, an on-site concierge to take care of anything the guests might need including arranging their included meals.
In the listing, Lillard explains, “It’s been 20 years since I played Shaggy (TM) in the first live-action “Scooby-Doo” film by Warner Bros., but his spirit has been with me since. To celebrate, I’m throwing it back to 2002 with a totally groovy stay in the gang’s beloved Mystery Machine, monsters not included.”
Some of the amenities include “All-you-can-eat snacks and a selection to choose from for dinner, featuring all of Shaggy & Scooby’s favorite foods (like hot dogs and eggplant burgers).” In addition, there will be “mystery games galore” as well as “a late-night re-watch of Scooby-Doo, complete with popcorn, candy and all the Scooby Snacks that your heart can desire.”
Outside the van, there will be a decked out outdoor living space “with enough lounge seating and hammock space for you to vibe out, free from any monsters that might be lurking about.”
Besides being a fun nighttime experience, in honor of this Mystery Machine experience Airbnb will also pay it forward. Lillard wrote, “In recognition of their commitment to offer safety, well-being and permanency to children who are in foster care, Airbnb will make a one-time donation to Five Acres, a 134-year-old child and family service agency dedicated to ensuring every child has a forever, loving family solution through advocacy, prevention and community-based mental/behavioral health services in Southern California.”
Would you want to spend the night in the Mystery Machine? If so, book this unique experience at Airbnb here at 1pm EST on June 16th. There will only be three nights available, and each guest can only spend one night. Choose from June 24, 25 or 26.
