Star Trek Actress Passed Away At 70

“Star Trek” Nuse Alyssa Ogawa, known in real life as Patti Yasutake, has passed away. She was 70.

The actress passed away on August 5 per her longtime friend and manager Kyle Fritz. She passed away surrounded by her loved ones at UCLA Santa Monica hospital. Fritz said Yasutake “had suffered from Lymphoma.” He confirmed this sad news to Fox News Digital on August 7.  

“Patti was not only a client but a ‘chosen family member.’ She was the very first actress I ever signed, and a friendship of over 30 years ensued. It was an honor to know her, work with her and love her,” Fritz said. “We enjoyed every day we got to work together… I will miss her spirit, talent and tenacity, but most of all, her friendship.”

Patti Yasutake, born on September 6, 1953, in Los Angeles, California, was an actress celebrated for her memorable role as Nurse Alyssa Ogawa in the iconic television series “Star Trek: The Next Generation” and its subsequent series. Her portrayal of Nurse Ogawa, a trusted member of the USS Enterprise’s medical team, endeared her to fans.

Yasutake’s journey into acting started when she was a child in Los Angeles.. She pursued her passion for the performing arts, through rigorous training and several stage performances. Her dedication paid off when she landed the role of Nurse Ogawa in 1991.

Nurse Alyssa Ogawa quickly became a fan-favorite. She was known for her competence, compassion, and calm demeanor under pressure. Yasutake’s performance brought depth and warmth to the role.

Beyond her “Star Trek” work, Yasutake has enjoyed a diverse career in film and television. She has appeared in various TV series, including “MacGyver,” “L.A. Law,” and “Grey’s Anatomy.”Her film credits include roles in movies such as “Drop Dead Gorgeous” and “The Watcher.”
