Sophia Loren Hospitalized After Accident
Oscar-winning actress Sophia Loren is best known for films such as “Two Women,” “A Special Day,” “Marriage Italian Style” and “Arabesque.” Her most recent credit was in 2020 for “The Life Ahead.”
She won an Oscar for her role in the film “Two Women.” Throughout her acting career, she has starred with acting legends including Cary Grant, Marlon Brando and Frank Sinatra.
In recent years, Loren has been living in Switzerland. Just six days ago, the actress celebrated her 89th birthday and posted on Instagram to commemorate the occasion. Along with a picture showing herself blowing a kiss, Loren wrote, “My loves, I am infinitely grateful for the affectionate greetings for my 89th birthday. I love you!”
Now, there’s news that Loren has been hospitalized and her health was in such serious condition that she had to undergo surgery. According to her agent, Andrea Giusti, the actress fell while she was in the bathroom in her home. The fall was so serious that it caused multiple “serious fractures” to her hip and her femur.
Loren’s sons, Carlo and Edoardo Ponti, rushed to the hospital to be with their mother while she recovered. According to a representative for Loren who spoke to Reuters, the surgery “went well and now she needs to rest and everything will be resolved.”
On Instagram, the restaurant that Loren owns, which is also named after her, posted a message about Loren’s health condition. In a translation of the message via Google translate, the restaurant shared, “A fall at her home in Geneva today caused Ms Loren hip fractures.” The restaurant explained that the surgery had “a positive outcome” and the next steps are “a short period of recovery and follow a road to rehabilitation.”
The post continued with more good news explaining, “Thankfully everything worked out for the best and the Lady will be back with us very soon.”
