Emmy Winning Soap Opera Star Dies At 43
Actor Billy Miller was best known for his roles in soap operas, including “General Hospital,” “All My Children” and “The Young and the Restless.” Other notable credits include TV series such as “Suits” and “Ray Donovan” and movies such as “American Sniper” and “Bad Blood.”
On September 15, 2023, two days before Miller’s 44th birthday, Miller died. A representative for Miller has confirmed that he had been struggling with manic depression, and Billy’s mother said that he died after “a long hard valiant battle with bipolar depression.” Miller was in Austin, Texas, at the time of his death.
Miller, who is originally from Tulsa, Oklahoma, grew up in Grand Prairie, Texas, before starting his acting career. His first credit was back in 2006 on the TV series “CSI: NY.” Then, he landed the role of Richie Novak on “All My Children” and acted in a total of 124 episodes during the years 2007 and 2008.
After “All My Children,” Miller was cast as Billy Abbott on “The Young and the Restless.” He stayed with that show from 2008 through 2014, acting in a total of 719 episodes.
Next, Miller jumped over to “General Hospital,” where he played Drew Cain, Jason Morgan and Jake Doe. He stayed with the soap opera from 2014 through 2019 and appeared in 519 episodes.
Miller’s most recent credit was on the TV series “NCIS” in 2022. He does not have any upcoming projects.
During his acting career, Miller won three Daytime Emmy awards for his role on “The Young and Restless” in the category Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. He won in 2010, 2013 and 2015.
The news of Miller’s death prompted multiple people to post tributes about the late actor. On X (formerly Twitter), “The Young and the Restless” shared a picture of Miller holding one of his Emmy awards along with the message, “The daytime community mourns the loss of Billy Miller who graced Y&R with his talent for many years as Billy Abbott. Our deepest sympathies to his family and loved ones.”
