Dad Sets Up Hidden Security Camera to Capture 6-Year-Old’s Overnight Antics in the Living Room

One of the hardest things about being a parent is knowing when to punish your kids. We love our kids so much that we tend to want to let them get away with things sometimes. It doesn’t make it any easier when they look up at you with their sweet little faces. Sure, they’re probably just manipulating us, but we parents can be softies at times.

However, we do set rules, and we set them for a reason. Rules like “don’t write on your walls with a permanent marker” are important. Do the kids always listen? Of course not, but we don’t want our walls covered in graffiti.

Another rule would be “don’t jump on the furniture.” Little kids have so much energy, like, crazy amounts of energy. Like, we wish we had a fraction as much energy as they have. We like to sit on the couch, prop up our feet, maybe see what’s on TV or curl up with a good book. Wait, reality check: we’ll settle for watching Baby Shark if that means we can sit down with a cup of coffee for 5 minutes.

Still, we don’t want our kids to jump on our furniture. It’s not made like a trampoline after all. We don’t want to have our couch look worn down, or worse yet, break just because we have kids that can’t sit still.

That’s why we can relate to this security camera video. It makes us want to set up a security camera in our living room just to make sure nothing similar is happening in the middle of the night in our home.

Cody Wray owns an IT security company, so of course he has security camera in his own home. One day, he noticed that the security camera was unplugged. Curious, he decided to watch the footage and see if there was a reason it was unplugged, or at least see who unplugged it.

He was not expecting to see what he did. In retrospect, he probably shouldn’t have been terribly surprised. His 6-year-old son told him that he wakes up at 2am sometimes, but Wray never thought he literally meant 2am. He just thought he was saying that sometimes he wakes up early.

It turns out that his 6-year-old boy doesn’t just wake up in the middle of the night, but he actually gets up and goes into the living room. Watch the video below to see what exactly he’s up to when his parents aren’t looking. Hint: they have new couches and the kids aren’t supposed to jump on them.

Dad says it’s hard to be mad at his son because “he’s just so cute” and that “every time we watch it’s still hysterical.”

Do your kids ever do anything they shouldn’t do when you’re not around but it’s just too funny to be mad at them?
