San Antonio Couple Launch Business to Build “Secret Garden Homes” in Backyards

Wouldn’t it be nice to have a place all to yourself…to just relax with a cup of coffee and watch the sun come up? To get some work done in peace? A place to scroll through your phone in silence? To simply sit and do nothing—just escape for a moment?

We all crave a moment to ourselves. And now, thanks to a San Antionio couple, Patrick and Erin Callahan, we can have just that.

The Callahans are the CEO of “Some Elbow Room”—structures built in the backyard of your home for the purpose of, well, anything you want!

“We’re just planning on flooding the city with marketing, and just getting our name out there, because we feel so strongly that this is just a great product for everyone who’s just super stressed,” Erin said. “Everybody wants a place where they can relax or do something that’s important to them.”

Their motto is “Need space? Time for some elbow room”—a phrase that probably resonates with most of us during the COVID-19 pandemic… a time when you probably aren’t’ getting very much space from your family or getting away at all.

The elbow rooms can be designed with all the things your home has to make it comfortable—insulation, air conditioning, electricity, etc. You can even add bathrooms and kitchenettes if you don’t want to leave your elbow room all too quickly.

Erin makes the process super easy. Everything is customizable, allowing you to choose exactly what you’d like your building to look like based on your needs. Whether you’re using it solely as a purpose to get away, as an office for your foreseeable work-from-home days, or as a schoolhouse to homeschool your kids in, you might want different amenities and features.

Types of elbow rooms range from the “shell,” to a room studio, to an entire deluxe suite. Based on the size, the shell can cost you anywhere from $9,000 to $15,000, the studio ranges from $15,000 to $25,000 and the suite goes for $20,000 to $30,000.

While elbow rooms primarily deliver their services, they also offer delivery for their 8×12 she-shed or studio model at the moment.

How cool and innovative are these elbow rooms? Is this something you’d ever consider purchasing?
