Miami School Says It Won’t Employ Teachers Who Get Vaccinated

While most schools around the world are encouraging their employees to get their COVID-19 vaccine, Centner Academy in Miami, Florida is doing the opposite and discouraging teachers to do so.

Believing that there isn’t enough research to deem the vaccines as safe, co-founder of the school, Leila Centner, sent out a notice that told faculty to “hold off“ on getting the vaccine until there is “is further research available on whether this experimental drug is impacting unvaccinated individuals.”

In fact, the school has gone so far as to say that they may not even employ faculty members who ARE vaccinated with the thought that she didn’t think there was enough research to condone everyone’s safety. “We are not 100% sure the COVID injections are safe and there are too many unknown variables for us to feel comfortable at this current time,” Centner stated on NBC 6.

However, not having staff get their COVID-19 vaccinations is backfiring greatly, with a fair shar of upset parents. In fact, the thought of having only unvaccinated educators teaching students has some parents absolutely horrified—not that this is anything super new for the school, one parent said.

“The whole year has been unbelievably shuffled for all of us to know what to do. And I don’t know if there’s going to be teachers there,” said one mother, who asked to be identified as “Lidia.” “They’re very pro ‘my body, my choice,’ and yet, it’s the complete opposite of that is what she’s actually telling these teachers. It’s your body, but it’s her choice.”

The biggest feat that Centner has is the possibility of people who got the shot to be able to transmit “something from their bodies to those with whom they come in contact,” she stated.

However, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), as well as many doctors and scientist, have debunked the notion of adverse side effects, and largely encourage everyone to get their vaccine. “I mean, that’s just absolutely an insane comment,” Lidia said. “I don’t know how she can possibly imagine that something’s going to pass through the air from one person to the other.”

So when will the vaccine be “safe” in the school’s eyes? That remains unclear—but one thing is for sure: They may not have any students left if this policy remains! Lidia said she’d pull her child from the school if she didn’t already pay tuition, and many other parents feel similarly.
