Sad LeBron James News

A talent for playing basketball runs in LeBron James‘ family. His oldest son, LeBron James Jr., who goes by Bronny, is currently planning to attend USC in the fall of 2023. He is 18 years old and an incoming freshman at the university. He is also on the basketball team at USC.

According to a statement released by the James family, Bronny was rushed to the hospital on July 25, 2023. He was at basketball practice at USC when he had a heart attack. The statement explains, “Yesterday while practicing Bronny James suffered a cardiac arrest. Medical staff was able to treat Bronny and take him to the hospital. He is now in stable condition and no longer in ICU.”

The statement continues, “We ask for respect and privacy for the James family and we will update media when there is more information. LeBron and Savannah wish to publicly send their deepest thanks and appreciation to the USC medical and athletic staff for their incredible work and dedication to the safety of their athletes.”

Bronny plans to play for USC until he’s old enough for the draft which is just one year from now. Meanwhile, LeBron has a personal goal to play in the NBA with his son. In 2022, he told the Athletic, “My last year will be played with my son. Wherever Bronny is at, that’s where I’ll be. I would do whatever it takes to play with my son for one year. It’s not about the money at that point.”

LeBron is gearing up for his 21st season in the NBA. He is currently playing for the Los Angeles Lakers, and it will be his 6th year playing for that team.

Cardiac arrest among young athletes is rare. It occurs when the heart suddenly stops beating. It is fatal if not treated immediately.
