Many children look forward to celebrating their birthday. It’s a chance to have a party, get presents and blow out the candles on the birthday cake which also means getting to make a wish. If you believe in the magic of wishes, a birthday wish is truly something special.

Jessica Simpson recently shared an Instagram post in honor of her firstborn’s 11th birthday. She shared a picture of her 11-year-old daughter, Maxwell Drew Johnson, holding her in the air. She also shared that she realizes “most Moms would say please slow down time when their baby turns 11,” but Jessica feels differently. She feels as if she has known her daughter her entire life. Jessica feels that Maxwell “was already living inside of my heart and my purpose” when she was just a child.

It was a sweet sentiment to share that she feels she has known her daughter much longer than 11 years; however, that wasn’t the sweetest part. Jessica also shared how her daughter used her special birthday wish when she blew out the candles on her cake.

Maxwell didn’t make a selfish wish. She didn’t wish for money, fame, or the latest “it” item for tweens. No, she wished for something bigger and more important than any of those things. She wished for health and healing.

Jessica explained, “She told me after she blew out HER 11 candles…’I made a wish that was for me and you and actually the whole family.'” At first, Jessica wasn’t happy about her daughter’s explanation of her wish. She told her, “Maxi it should be your wish.”

If you know about birthday wishes, you know that you’re not supposed to tell anyone what you wished for, and Maxwell didn’t. She kept it vague, that is, until her wish came true.

Maxwell heard her mom reading a text from her father, and that’s when she knew her birthday wish came true. Not sure if it was okay to share her wish or not, Maxwell asked her grandmother, “GiGi if my birthday wish came true already can I say it out loud or do I still keep it to myself?”

That’s when Maxwell shared what she had wished for. Jessica explained, “Maxwell’s birthday wish was for her Papa Joe’s bone cancer treatment to work. It did.” Jessica added a special thank you to her daughter. She wrote, “Thank you Maxi Drew for usin’ your wish on our family and most importantly, my Dad. You are mesmerizing, steadfast, intelligent, passionate, generous, loving, devoted, inspiring, enticing, confident, empathetic, powerful, intuitive, beautiful, DETERMINED, enlightened and FULL OF WONDER.The faith of a child is what keeps all of us ALIVE.”
