Woman Is Getting a Lot of Attention After Running a 5:25 Mile While 9 Months Pregnant
A 28-year-old woman named Makenna Myler recently ran a mile in less than 6 minutes. That may or may not sound impressive to you under normal circumstances, but the fact that Myler is running at all is super impressive to us because she is also 9 months pregnant.
If you have ever been pregnant, you know that pregnancy is often pretty uncomfortable. In the first trimester, there’s nausea and fatigue to battle. In the final few months, that big belly can make it difficult to even walk around comfortably, especially if your feet are swollen.
Myler was a runner before becoming pregnant, and she wasn’t about to let pregnancy slow her down. Pre-pregnancy, she could run a mile in about 7 minutes if she was taking her time. She wanted to at least keep up that speed throughout her pregnancy.
In order to motivate her to keep running, her husband told her that if she could run a mile in less than 8 minutes when she was 9 months pregnant, he would pay her $100.
Her husband filmed her running at 9 months pregnant. He had a stopwatch going to track her time and see if she would finish the mile in less than 8 minutes or not.
In the video, which he posted to TikTok, you can see Myler whiz by. We can only imagine that the little baby in her belly is enjoying the smooth ride.
At the end of the video, her husband hugs her and tells her that he owes her $100. She not only met her goal but exceeded it by finishing the mile in just 5 minutes and 25 seconds.

Myler told BuzzFeed that not all of her doctors were on board with her desire to run throughout her pregnancy. One doctor was familiar with how athletic she was pre-pregnancy, and that doctor supported her desire to keep running. Another doctor thought she should be more cautious, but when an ultrasound showed that the baby was perfectly healthy, he was supportive of her desire to run.
Myler is due October 19, 2020. She plans to keep running until the baby is born.
