If you like to do a lot of baking, chances are you have dirty baking pans. Even if you use parchment paper or aluminum foil to cover your baking pan before putting it in the oven, over time, all the grease from the food you cook can get caked onto the pan in the form of burnt dirty-looking spots.
Maybe you thoroughly scrub your baking pans and baking sheets after every use. Even still, there might be some stubborn baked-on spots that seem impossible to remove.
They’re not impossible to remove. You don’t even need to use any elbow grease to get them off. All you need to use is your oven, your baking pan’s natural home.
In a TikTok video, Holly Auna shared that she watched another TikTok video where a woman demonstrated how to clean a dirty baking pan in the oven. Holly wanted to try it for herself with her very dirty baking pan. It seemed like she didn’t believe it was really going to work.
As Holly demonstrates, all you do is put your baking pan in the oven upside down. Then, press the “clean” setting on the oven. She talked over the video saying that she had never used the “clean” setting before and wasn’t sure if it was working at first.
After the clean cycle ended, Holly turned the oven off and waited until the next day to open the oven. Watch the video below to see what her baking pan looked like when she finally took it out of the oven.

Amazing, isn’t it? One TikTok user shared that her family discovered this hack by accident. “We discovered this by accident, my dad cleaned the oven and didn’t realize the tray was inside, we were all amazed.”
That’s right – not only will your baking pan get clean but so will your oven!
Some TikTok users warn not to use the clean setting if you have pet birds, and some say they are too scared to use the setting. Why? The clean setting heats your oven up to a really high temperature to melt away the grim. How hot does it get? Like, up to 1000 degrees Fahrenheit.
When an oven is in a clean setting, it can emit potentially dangerous fumes. It could also cause damage to a fuse or heating element in the oven.
Sounds like the clean setting definitely needs to be used with caution, but if you’re going to clean the oven anyway, or if you have never cleaned it, you might as well at put your dirtiest baking pan in the oven to get that clean too.
Are you going to try this oven hack? Have you ever used the “clean” setting on your oven?
