Woman Decides To Recreate One Famous Classic Painting Each Day For A Whole Year

Liza Yukhnyova

Do you remember the Getty Challenge? Towards the beginning of the pandemic, The Getty tasked the world with a fun quarantine challenge. The museum posted the following instructions on social media: “We challenge you to recreate a work of art with materials at home.” Participants needed to choose their favorite artwork, find items lying around the house that they could use as props or costumes and try to recreate their artwork of choice with the items they found.

While many people participated in this challenge, one person had so much fun with the challenge that she decided not to stop. Liza Yukhnyova told Bored Panda, “I started to imitate pieces of art for the #gettychallenge. At the beginning, I decided to do it daily for 30 days, but at the end of this period, I couldn’t stop. I’m still continuing and now I am on day 130.”

Yukhnyova set up an Instagram account where she posts her recreations alongside the original artwork. Her recreations are amazingly impressive, and what’s even more impressive is that she does it all herself. From costumes and makeup to taking the actual photo, it’s all her. She doesn’t have anyone help her. The photos aren’t taken with a fancy camera either. She uses her cell phone.
