Queen Camilla Unwell & Forced To Cancel Royal Commitments

Queen Camilla, wife of King Charles III, has withdrawn from two scheduled engagements this week due to a chest infection, Buckingham Palace announced on Tuesday according to The New York Times.

Following the couple’s recent royal tour of Australia and Samoa, the queen, 77, will miss two events planned for Thursday, including one at Westminster Abbey.

In a statement, the palace shared that Queen Camilla is “currently unwell with a chest infection, and her doctors have recommended a brief period of rest. Regrettably, Her Majesty will be unable to fulfill her engagements this week.”

The queen has expressed her apologies to anyone affected or disappointed by these cancellations. The palace added that they hope she will recover in time to attend this weekend’s Remembrance Day ceremonies, honoring the armed forces members who lost their lives in service. Camilla is currently resting at home under medical supervision.

The royal family has faced a challenging year due to health issues, as both King Charles and Catherine, Princess of Wales, have undergone treatment for cancer.

In April, King Charles announced his return to public duties, less than three months after revealing his cancer diagnosis. Catherine, Princess of Wales, also shared in March that she was receiving cancer treatment, though she has since resumed some public appearances.

Due to the overlapping illnesses of two of the family’s most popular members, Queen Camilla decided  to take on additional engagements during her husband’s recovery.

While visiting Samoa, the royal couple attended multiple events, several of which were affected by heavy tropical downpours. On Tuesday, despite Queen Camilla’s absence, King Charles continued with his scheduled duties, including hosting an audience at Buckingham Palace with Qatar’s new ambassador to the United Kingdom, according to a separate palace statement.
