Popular Television Star Passed Away At 77
Mark Withers, the veteran TV star, best known for his roles in shows like the original Dynasty series, has died at the age of 77. His daughter, Jessie Withers, confirmed to Variety on December 6 that the actor passed away following a battle with pancreatic cancer.

Mark Withers was born on June 5, 1946, and grew up in Binghamton, New York. He built a steady career in Hollywood, becoming a recognizable face for his appearances in hit series like Dynasty, CHiPs, and Knight Rider.
In 1981, Mark Withers made his Dynasty debut as Ted Dinard, a role that proved to be his breakout performance. He portrayed Ted across several episodes, playing the gay lover of Steven Carrington, portrayed by Al Corley. Their characters were among the first LGBTQ+ representations on U.S. television, marking a significant moment in TV history for inclusivity and social awareness.
Withers began his acting career in the late 1970s, working steadily in guest-starring roles. His striking presence and versatility helped him land parts across multiple genres, including action, drama, and crime procedurals. Beyond his Dynasty fame, Withers appeared in The A-Team, Magnum, P.I., and Murder, She Wrote, showcasing his ability to adapt to a variety of roles. He was often cast as authority figures, detectives, or charming yet complex characters. More recently, he portrayed Gary, the coroner, in the first season of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things.
