Popular Telenovela Star William Levy Arrested

William Levy was arrested on Monday, April 14, and booked into the Broward County Main Jail in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. According to jail records obtained by PEOPLE, the 44-year-old Cuban-American actor faces charges of disorderly intoxication in a public place and trespassing.

Levy was taken into custody in Weston, a city just north of Miami. He was released the following morning after posting a $500 bond. Specific details regarding the circumstances of his arrest have not yet been disclosed.

Levy began his career as a model with Next Models and gained early exposure through reality shows like Isla de la Tentación and Protagonistas de Novela 2 on Telemundo. His acting breakthrough came with roles in Spanish-language telenovelas such as Olvidarte Jamás, Mi Vida Eres Tú, and Acorralada. He achieved widespread recognition starring in Cuidado con el Ángel (2008) and Sortilegio (2009), both of which were major hits in Latin America and among U.S. Hispanic audiences .​

In 2012, Levy expanded his reach by participating in Season 14 of Dancing with the Stars, finishing in third place with partner Cheryl Burke. That same year, he appeared in Jennifer Lopez’s music video for “I’m Into You” . His film credits include Addicted (2014), The Single Moms Club (2014), and Resident Evil: The Final Chapter (2016). More recently, he starred in the Netflix-distributed telenovela Café con Aroma de Mujer (2021) and the series Montecristo (2023), where he also served as executive producer.

Levy shares two children, Christopher and Kailey, with actress and ex-wife Elizabeth Gutiérrez. The couple had an on-and-off relationship before officially separating in 2024.

The breakup was announced two months after Florida police responded to a suspected domestic disturbance at the home the couple once shared. According to police incident reports obtained by PEOPLE, multiple calls involving the couple had been made to law enforcement since January 2024, including one in March that involved their daughter, Kailey.
