Alice Hirson, celebrated for her roles on beloved series like “Full House” and “Dallas,” passed away at 95. She died of natural causes last Friday at the Motion Picture and Television Country House and Hospital in Los Angeles, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

The future actress was born in Brooklyn on March 10, 1929, and grew up in West Hempstead on Long Island. The Long Island native enjoyed a television career that spanned multiple generations. She appeared in 26 episodes of “Dallas,” and charmed fans of “Full House” as Claire Tanner, the matriarch of the on-screen Saget family, in two episodes per the New York Post.

She will also be remembered for her role alongside Ellen DeGeneres on the ABC sitcom “Ellen.” From 1994 to 1998, Alice portrayed DeGeneres’ mother, Lois Morgan, who was unaware of her daughter’s sexuality until she came out in a 1997 episode. This coincided with DeGeneres’ real-life coming out as a lesbian.

The seasoned actress made memorable guest appearances on shows like “Murphy Brown,” “Just Shoot Me!,” and “The Secret Life of the American Teenager,” in addition to several daytime soap operas. Her talents extended beyond television, as she also starred in films such as “Private Benjamin,” “Revenge of the Nerds,” and “Being There.”

In 1952, she was cast as Lucy in the  anthology series Hallmark Hall of Fame. Also in the same year, she married her first husband Roger O Hirson, a Tony Award-winning dramatist. They had two children together. The couple later divorced in the 1970s.

On Broadway, Hirson graced the stage three times. In 1964, she debuted on Broadway in “Traveller Without Luggage”, where she met Elliott, whom she would marry in the 1980s. The couple remained together until his passing in 2005. Hirson returned to Broadway in 1966 to appear in “The Investigation” and again in 1971 for ‘”Solitaire/Double Solitaire”.

Rest In Peace.
