Angela Bofill, a popular R&B singer has passed away. She is known for her hit songs “This Time I’ll Be Sweeter,” “I Try,” and “Angel of the Night. She died at her daughter’s home in Vallejo, California on June 13. She was 70 years old.

Details on the cause of her death have not been revealed.

Bofill was born on May 2, 1954, in the Bronx, New York City. She grew up inspired by Latin music. Her background is a mix of Cuban and Puerto Rican. Even as a young child she studied classical music and singing. 

Angela Bofill’s career began in the mid-1970s. She attended the Manhattan School of Music, where she studied classical music and voice. Her professional break came when she met jazz flutist Dave Valentin, who showed her around the jazz scene and helped her score a recording contract.

Her most notable music was produced in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

In 1978, she released her debut album “Angie” with hits such as “This Time I’ll Be Sweeter” and “Under the Moon and Over the Sky.”

In 1979, she released “Angel of the Night” with hit songs such as the title song and “I Try.” This is the album that made her popular. The year 1981 brought in her album “Something About You” with the song “ Holdin’ Out for Love’ 

Throughout the late 1980s and 90s, Bofill continued to release music and tour. Unfortunately, she experienced a decline in commercial success compared to her earlier years. Although, her later works still resonated with her dedicated fan base.

Angela Bofill faced significant health challenges in the 2000s. She suffered two strokes in 2006 and 2007. This left her with some speech and mobility impairments. Despite this, Bofill has shown remarkable resilience. Although she couldn’t sing as before, she remained active in the music community. The singer participated in “The Angela Bofill Experience,” a live narrative concert about her life and career, featuring her music performed by other artists.
