A Brazilian car influencer Ricardo Godoi tragically passed away at the age of 45 during an extensive tattoo procedure to cover his entire back. The Instagram personality, who had over 220,000 followers, arranged for a tattoo studio to complete the session in a hospital setting in Santa Catarina, Brazil. To ensure comfort and minimize pain, Godoi underwent general anesthesia during the process.

Before the procedure, he reassured his followers on social media that he would resume posting updates later that afternoon. However, while on the operating table, Godoi suffered cardiac arrest and passed away at noon on Monday, January 20.

An announcement of his death was shared on his Instagram account, and authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his passing.

“Today we say goodbye to Ricardo Godoi, an incredible person who left his mark on the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

His joy, generosity and light will continue to be present in our memories and every story he helped build.

According to a statement obtained by the Daily Mail, the owner of the tattoo studio revealed that Ricardo Godoi experienced cardiac arrest during the initial stages of sedation and intubation, before the tattooing process could begin.

Ricardo had planned to undergo a full back tattoo procedure  which involved general anesthesia, sedation, and intubation.

The tattoo studio owner said “To do this, we hired a private hospital with all the staff, equipment and anesthetic drugs necessary for the safety of the procedure. We also hired a doctor with a specialism in anaesthesiology and experience in intubation, whose documentation was approved by the hospital.”

He added, “Blood tests were requested beforehand, which showed no explicit risk in carrying out the procedure. Ricardo signed the consent form regarding the risk of the procedure.”

Ricardo Godoi is survived by his wife and children. He frequently shared content focused on luxury cars. He also served as the CEO of his company, Godoi Premium Group.

Rest In Peace.
