Tony Lo Bianco, famed 1970’s film star, best known for his role in The French Connection, has passed away at 87 years old.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, the actor died June 11 from prostate cancer. He passed away at his Maryland horse farm, according to his wife Alyse.

Born Anthony LoBianco on October 19, 1936, in Brooklyn, New York. He was of Italian-American descent. His mother was a housewife and his father drove a taxicab.

In his early years, he was an aspiring Golden Gloves boxer, before he found his true calling in acting.

His first film was in 1965 as Allen in “The Sex Perils of Paulette”. He became known for his role in The French Connection (1971) as Sal Boca, a character involved in the drug trade. He Starred in “The Honeymoon Killers” (1970), a crime drama film based on the true story of a murderous couple. In another hit film he appeared in “The Seven-Ups” (1973), another crime thriller where he played a major role.

Bianco also worked in television. He was featured in numerous TV series and movies, including guest appearances on popular shows like “Law & Order,” “The Sopranos,” and “Police Story.”

He has over 100 film credits. His last credit was in the 2022  movie called Somewhere in Queens, directed by and starring Ray Romano.

Bianco is survived by his wife Alyse, his two children, his two stepchildren, and several grandchildren. His daughter Ana passed away in 2006.
