Patrick Mahomes Sr. has officially signed a contract with Barstool Sports to fight former MLB star John Rocker at Rough N’ Rowdy, as confirmed by Dave Portnoy in an exclusive statement to DailyMail.com.

The former major league pitcher, has faced a challenging few years, including multiple DWI arrests, and now finds himself making an unexpected return to the sporting spotlight.

As Mahomes’ son, Patrick, prepared for the Super Bowl, Barstool founder Dave Portnoy revealed in New Orleans over the weekend that the 54-year-old will step into the ring at the next Rough N’ Rowdy event.

Mahomes Senior was seen standing outside a restaurant when John Rocker exited and extended his hand for a handshake. Mahomes rejected the gesture by pushing Rocker’s hand away, sparking a heated exchange that was eventually de-escalated.

Rocker, a former reliever for the Atlanta Braves and three other teams, is perhaps most infamous for a controversial Sports Illustrated interview in December 1999, where he made inflammatory remarks about minorities, immigrants, and other groups.

The two exchanged heated insults, with Mahomes referring to Rocker as a “menace to society.”

When Portnoy was asked about the fight, he said “I don’t know, that’s why I don’t want the paperwork to get ripped up. I think it is,” Portnoy said in an interview. “I believe we have a signed agreement for Mahomes Sr. to fight John Rocker at Rough ‘N’ Rowdy.

“I think it’s 100 percent, but I haven’t seen the signed paperwork yet.”

Patrick Mahomes Sr. is a former Major League Baseball (MLB) pitcher, best known for his career spanning 11 seasons from 1992 to 2003. Born on August 9, 1970, Mahomes played for multiple teams, including the Minnesota Twins, Boston Red Sox, New York Mets, Texas Rangers, Chicago Cubs, and Pittsburgh Pirates. A right-handed pitcher, he transitioned from a starter to a reliever over the years, finding success as a bullpen arm, particularly during his time with the Mets.

Beyond baseball, Mahomes Sr. is widely recognized as the father of NFL superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes II. His son’s rise to stardom with the Kansas City Chiefs has kept Mahomes Sr. in the public eye, often seen supporting him at games.

In recent years, Mahomes Sr. has faced legal troubles, including multiple DWI arrests. He served 10 days in jail and is now being watched during his first year of probation.

This week, Patrick Mahomes Sr. was in New Orleans to cheer on his son, Patrick Mahomes II, as the Kansas City Chiefs strive for a historic third straight Super Bowl win against the Philadelphia Eagles.

On Thursday night, Patrick Mahomes Sr. was seen at a casino in New Orleans alongside his ex-wife, Randi, and their son, Jackson, who has faced legal troubles of his own. In March 2024, Jackson was sentenced to six months of probation after pleading guilty to battering a waiter at a Kansas restaurant in February 2023.
