Comedian’s Parody of Margaret Thatcher Is Just Spectacular

The season premier of “The Crown” recently hit Netflix, and many viewers have been binge watching, as you do when you need some escapism during a pandemic.

This season of “The Crown” includes new characters including Princess Diana and Margaret Thatcher, Britain’s first female prime minister. We’re pretty sure the British royal family has already tuned in to check out the new episodes, but we know for a fact that Chicago-based comedian Lisa Beasley has been tuning in.

Beasley shared with BuzzFeed News that she was watching “The Crown” before bed, and she was so impressed by Gillian Anderson’s portrayal of Margaret Thatcher that she couldn’t stop thinking about it.

“I woke up making myself laugh by mimicking her portrayal before I even got out of bed. It was when I remembered that I have a few costumes from past bits I’ve done, and all I needed was the wig.”

After a trip to a local store to pick up a wig, Beasley returned home and did her own incredible yet hilarious portrayal of Anderson playing Thatcher. From the epicly long bow to the reveal of who she’s talking to, the short skit is unexpected perfection.

Beasley originally posted the video on Instagram, but her friend recommended that she post it on Twitter. That’s when the video really went viral. Currently, it has over 2 million views. Join those views by watching it below.

Viewers are loving this hilarious and spot-on portrayal of Thatcher.

When one viewer asked why Beasley was so spot-on in this portrayal, she responded that it’s all due to watching “The Crown” before bed.

Beasley has been off stage for months due to the pandemic and has enjoyed the opportunity to perform in any way she can. She plans to continue to do more skits involving the Margaret Thatcher character. She said, “Got to at least give the people my take on Margaret’s trip to Balmoral.” We’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for that!

Beasley and some of her friends have also started a channel called Twitch which viewers can watch on Amazon Prime. Beasley shared, “I go live a lot, and I’m working on bringing the Margaret Thatcher Report to our channel.”
