Pancake Cereal is the Hottest New Food Trend You’ll Find All Over TikTok
Tough choice, huh?
Pancakes and cereal are both extremely popular, classic, and comforting morning meals, so you might like both equally. But that’s precisely the reason why people are now starting to combine the two, calling the creation “pancake cereal.”
Like Dalgona coffee (the fluffy whipped coffee you’re seeing all over social media), pancake cereal originated on the social media outlet TikTok and has put all other quarantine creations to shame. This one truly steals the show.

Pancake cereal is what you’d think it is: Pancakes small enough to toss in a bowl and eat it with a spoon, the way you would Cheerios or Frosted Flakes. Instead of pouring milk over them, you can drizzle them in syrup or butter, whatever your pancake topping of choice may be.
The new trendy food is pretty easy to make. You just need a piping bag or squeeze bottle so you can make your pancakes into teeny bite-size pieces. If you don’t have either of those, you can simply poke a hole in an empty water bottle cap and squeeze the batter out of there.
To make the pancakes, you can use whatever your favorite pancake recipe would be—from Bisquick to protein pancakes and the banana variety. Some people have really gotten creative with their pancake cereal recipes…we’ve seen anything from birthday pancake cereal (adding sprinkles to the batter) to unicorn pancake cereal (using food coloring and Lucky Charms).
Once you make your batter, just add it to your piping tool, and squeeze out itsy bitsy pancakes onto your pan. As you can imagine, these cook a bit quicker than your large version, so flip them after a minute or so, or until bubbles form around the edge.

🎂MINI BIRTHDAY PANCAKE CEREAL🥞🥣 🧁I’ve seen so many people jump on this trend from people on TikTok to Instagrammer friends so, I decided to give it a shot and my own little spin. 🥞Well, this was much harder than expected! You need lots and lots of patience to make these mini pancakes. 👉🏼First, you will need to get pancake batter and add sprinkles. Use a piping bag or corner of a plastic bag and add your batter, this will allow to make teeny tiny pancakes. Heat up a bit of canola oil in a pan (it doesn’t burn as quickly as butter) over medium-low heat and make your pancakes. Flip, cook, and serve! I drizzled some strawberry icing and poured pink milk (Strawberry Nesquik)🥛💖 🧈What do you think? TikTokers who’ve make pancake cereal claim that there’s just something awesome about turning what’s normally a large fluffy pancake into a miniature version, putting it in a bowl, and eating it like a cereal.
“In my opinion, it tastes better than actual pancakes, even though it’s made the same way,” says Sabrina Bui, who made her pancake cereal using a used a plastic oral syringe that she found in her medicine cabinet. “It’s way more fun to eat it as cereal. I feel like I won’t go back to pancakes after this!”
If you do make pancake cereal, there are a few tips TikTokers agree on to keep in mind: For one thing, try to avoid large toppings, like chunks of fruit or chocolate chips, which won’t cook as well in a mini version. Instead, just sprinkle those on top when the pancakes are in the bowl.
Additionally, expert pancake cereal makers recommend cooking the mini pancakes on medium-low heat and using canola oil instead of butter, which has a higher smoke point and won’t burn as easily.
How fun is pancake cereal? Do you think you’ll try out this new trend, or stick to your large stack of flapjacks or standard bowl of cereal?
