Pancake and Waffle Mixes Sold At Walmart Are Being Recalled Due To Potential Containment of Cable Fragments
If you’ve purchased Great Value Buttermilk Pancake & Waffle Mix at Walmart recently, you may want to check to see if your stash is part of the current recall.
Continental Mills has just issued a recall for a single lot of the popular pancake and waffle mix. The one in question contains the UPC 078742370828, lot code KX2063, best by date of 09/01/2023. The mix was distributed to Walmart stores nationwide. Check the box for these numbers. If they match, read on.
The recall is due to potential fragments from a cable. The cable was used to clear the processing line during packaging of the mix. Cable fragments were discovered in only a small amount of products so far but a recall helps to keep everyone safe, just in case. Thankfully, there have been no contaminated products or injuries reported.
“Food Safety is the highest priority for Continental Mills and the company is acting swiftly for the safety of consumers. Continental Mills is working with the FDA and retailers to ensure any affected product is removed from the marketplace immediately,” the company posted in a press release.
What to do if you’ve purchased the mix

This recall is one of the more arbitrary ones we’ve seen—usually recalls occur in meats like pork, bagged salads, or ground beef, all of which are more common for things like listeria or E. coli.
