In a Twist No One Saw Coming, Pamela Anderson Will Make Her Broadway Debut In Long-Running Show

Pamela Anderson is probably best known for her role as CJ on the show “Baywatch.” You may also remember her as the Tool Time girl Lisa on the sitcom “Home Improvement.” More recently, she produced her own show called “V.I.P.”

While Anderson has made a name for herself on the small screen, she’s about to embark on a huge transition in her acting career. She’s been cast as Roxie Hart in the Broadway musical “Chicago.” This will be Anderson’s first time performing on Broadway.

Anderson is very excited about playing Hart in her Broadway debut. She explained, “I have always been a huge fan of Bob Fosse’s and Gwen Verdon’s work. Ann Reinking, too.” She added, “Playing Roxie Hart is a dream fulfilled. Performing Fosse, you don’t have time to get in your head. You can’t dance, sing, and think at the same time. There is a freedom, a unique joy in knowing it’s all about the work. Playing Roxie Hart is a sweet escape for me.”

“Chicago” is the 2nd longest running Broadway show in history. Only “The Phantom of the Opera” was on Broadway longer. “Chicago” first opened on Broadway in 1996. Since then, it has been performed in 36 countries.

Anderson will play Hart for eight weeks starting April 12, 2022, and running through June 5th. Previous actresses who played Hart on Broadway include Melanie Griffith, Ashlee Simpson, Brooke Shields, Ann Reinking, and Gwen Verdon.

“Chicago”‘s book is by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse with music by John Kander and lyrics also by Ebb. Choreography is by Ann Reinking with direction by Walter Bobbie.

When she’s not acting, Anderson is busy being a board member for PETA. She also founded The Pamela Anderson Foundation which “supports organizations and individuals that stand on the front lines in the protection of human, animal, and environmental rights.”

Does it surprise you that Anderson is taking on Broadway? Do you think she makes a good Roxie Hart? Do you think she will be cast in future Broadway shows after her debut in “Chicago”?
