Nick Cannon, the multifaceted host of The Masked Singer and creator of Wild ‘n Out, has made it clear that he’s not ruling out expanding his already large family. Despite the challenges of raising 12 children with six women, the 44-year-old recently revealed that he is open to the idea of having more kids.
During a candid conversation on the We Playin’ Spades podcast with former NFL stars Ryan Clark and Channing Crowder, Cannon addressed the growing trend of Black men opting for vasectomies. With six mothers and 12 children, many might assume Cannon would be considering the same route, but he isn’t ready to make that decision just yet.
“It’s another man at this table that needs to think about that s––,” Crowder joked, referring to Cannon, who laughed off the comment. Cannon acknowledged that getting a vasectomy might be the “responsible thing to do,” but he’s simply not finished expanding his family.
“I just — I’m not done,” Cannon admitted during the discussion. While some may see this as a nod to future children, Cannon kept things open-ended when asked if he would have another baby with one of his existing partners or someone new. “I don’t know. That’s the thing. I leave it to the Lord,” he said.
Cannon’s journey to fatherhood began in April 2011 with the birth of twins Moroccan and Monroe, whom he shares with ex-wife Mariah Carey. Since then, he has expanded his family with Brittany Bell, Abby De La Rosa, Bre Tiesi, LaNisha Cole, and Alyssa Scott, becoming a father to multiple children, including sons Golden Sagon, Rise Messiah, and Legendary Love, and daughters Powerful Queen, Beautiful Zeppelin, and Onyx Ice.
However, Cannon’s journey as a father hasn’t been without its emotional hurdles. In a December 2022 appearance on The Checkup with Dr. Agus, he revealed the intense guilt he feels as a father of many. “Being a father of multiple kids, it’s always the biggest guilt on me is that I don’t get to spend enough time with all my children,” he shared. “One ’cause I’m constantly working and two because I’m just spread thin.”
Despite the struggles of balancing work and family life, Cannon finds joy in his role as a father. In June 2024, he spoke to PEOPLE about his excitement for Father’s Day and the opportunity to bond with his children. “It’s definitely one of those days where I got be on my Ps and Qs the entire day,” Cannon said. “It’s supposed to be a day where I get to rest, but I want to give all my kids the opportunity to connect and give me gifts, and all that type of stuff.”
He added, “It’s a fun day and I appreciate all the love that I get on that day.”
Although it remains to be seen whether Cannon will add more children to his already large family, he certainly doesn’t seem in a rush to close that chapter of his life. Fans will have to wait and see if his desire for more children is fulfilled, but for now, he remains focused on raising his kids and cherishing the time they share together.
