It’s every teen’s dream to make their mom social media famous. And now, thanks to the ever growing popularity of TikTok, it’s easier than ever.

Well, you still need your mom to do something pretty cool. And luckily, 16-year-old Josiah Davila of Woodbridge, Connecticut, has a pretty cool mom.

You see, back in 1989, Josiah’s mom, Lia, was on the popular drum line dance team Bubblin Brown Sugar for the HBCU Morris Brown College. And while that was more than 30 years ago, when Josiah asked her to dance to drum line music, she delivered.

Lia works at a dance studio, she of course she’s used to dancing—but not like this. In fact, she admitted that she hadn’t danced the way she did in the video in many, many years. “I surprised myself,” she admitted.

It might have something to do with the fact that Lia’s dance studio where she works has been closed down temporarily due to the COVID-19 pandemic. While out of work, Lia doesn’t have much to do and misses being able to teach.

“I never thought she could hold up her weight in the air,” Josiah said of his mom’s dance routine. “But I don’t expect that trick from any 40-year-old. So when my 48-year-old mom did that I was shocked and speechless.”

We’re pretty speechless too, especially learning that she was 48. The routine involves some pretty high kicks and fast movements that would make even a youngster exhausted, we’d imagine!

Sure, Lia made it look easy, but she was hurting a bit after she stopped the routine.

“The choreography was off the top of my head, and we did one take because I had to lay down right afterward,” Lia said.

But even so, she doesn’t show she’s hurting in the video. The routine is pretty fabulous, and, though she hasn’t danced like that in a long time, it truly doesn’t show. She clearly went viral for a reason!

“This whole viral thing has been surprising and I’m grateful. And happy for [Josiah]. It’s really lifted our spirits as a family,” Lisa said.
