Mom Shares How She Lost 230 Pounds in Just 15 Months
While there are multiple diets and exercise options out there, the right one is the one that you can stick with for life. We’ve seen stories about amazing weight loss on the keto diet, but we’ve seen other people drop the pounds by counting calories instead of restricting food groups. It seems that what’s most important is being committed to doing what it takes to lose weight, like hitting the gym on the regular and passing on the fast food and soda.
Katelyn Broughton had been morbidly obese since she was in elementary school. As a child, she pretty much thought that’s just who she was and who she was going to be her whole life. She had accepted her fate as the fat girl.
As an adult, she was used to being overweight. She was used to having a hard time finding cute clothes to wear. Her daughter was used to having a mom who wasn’t very active and who was kind of “boring.”
What changed everything for Katelyn was when she stepped on the scale and saw that she weighed over 400 pounds. She was not used to that. She knew that she had to do something about all the excess weight she was carrying around.
At her highest weight of 412 pounds, Katelyn decided to join Orangetheory, which is a gym that describes itself as “better than your ordinary gym workout.” Professional coaches guide members through workouts designed to get them the results they desire.
Katelyn was committed. She started counting calories, and she showed up at Orangetheory 5 days a week. Just 15 months after starting her weight loss journey, she was down 230 pounds!
Now that she’s at a much healthier weight, her daughter thinks she’s a lot more fun. She loves that her mom can help her do things like learn to ride her bike.
While Katelyn is happy with her weight loss, she’s not happy with the excess skin all over her body. She’s already had one surgery to remove some excess skin, and she’s hoping to save up or raise money through GoFundMe to get the rest of the skin removal surgeries she needs.
