Michelle Obama to Star in a New Cooking Show for Kids on Netflix

Michelle Obama will be cooking up some fun with her latest venture!

The former First Lady is launching a kid-centric cooking program on Netflix. She will star in and produce the show “Waffles + Mochi,” which will begin streaming on March 16.

The program will feature Obama alongside two puppets named Waffles and Mochi. Obama will play a supermarket owner. The episodes will follow the trio as they work toward their goal of becoming chefs.

“With the help of friendly new faces like the supermarket owner, Mrs. Obama, and a magical flying shopping cart as their guide, Waffles and Mochi blast off on global ingredient missions, traveling to kitchens, restaurants, farms, and homes all over the world, cooking up recipes with everyday ingredients alongside renowned chefs, home cooks, kids and celebrities,” Netflix said in a statement.

This isn’t the first time Obama has worked with children to raise awareness about food and nutrition. She famously promoted her “Let’s Move!” public health campaign to prevent childhood obesity. The program’s premise falls in line with that mission, which helped families get access to affordable and nutritious foods and promoted increased physical activity.

Obama has been quite busy as of late. Last year, she launched a podcast on Spotify called “The Michelle Obama Podcast.” She and her husband also signed a multi-production deal with Netflix through their company “Barack and Michelle Obama’s Higher Ground Productions.”

If you need your Michelle Obama fix before the “Waffles and Mochi” premiere, her “Becoming” documentary is currently available on Netflix.
