Meghan Markle Did Not Have a Home Birth Despite Rumors That She Was Planning On It

In case you missed it, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are officially parents. They had a baby boy on Monday morning, and they announced the news to the world later that day. Although we have yet to see the newest royal, Harry did talk to the media and say that he was “over the moon” with his new son.

Meghan has chosen to keep details about her birth private, and we certainly respect her for that. Unlike Kate Middleton, she did not pose on the steps of a hospital hours after giving birth. In fact, Meghan reportedly thought that tradition was “archaic.”

The royals said they would make an announcement when Meghan went into labor, but the announcement actually came hours after she had already given birth. We’re not sure what happened there, but reportedly, even some senior royals were not told when Meghan was in labor. That could explain the delay.

Meghan was hoping for a home birth. Her mother, Doria Ragland, was even studying with a birthing expert and doula in the United States. She has been staying temporarily at Frogmore Cottage with Meghan and Harry while waiting for her first grandchild to arrive.

When Harry talked to the media, he mentioned that Meghan was overdue. We don’t know exactly how many days overdue.

Whether it had anything to do with the fact that Meghan was overdue or not, she did not give birth at home as she hoped she would. As the Daily Mail reported, she was whisked off to a hospital in London with Harry by her side, and it’s believed that her mother went with her as well.

While there has not been an announcement about which hospital she was taken to, it is believed that it was the Portland Hospital.
