When longtime Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek passed away in November 2020, everyone knew it was going to be difficult to replace him. No one hosted that show like Trebek—in fact, he was the ONLY one to host the show since it began in 1984.

Over the last two years, the show had several temporary guest hosts including people like Katie Couric, Anderson Cooper, Savannah Guthrie, Dr. Sanjay Gupta and more. However, it eventually came down to just two of the guest hosts: Mayim Bialik and Ken Jennings. The two have been working together on Season 38 of the show while a new permanent host remains under wraps.

Well, Mayim’s time may be coming to an end. When Entertainment Tonight asked her if she’d consider permanently hosting the show, it was obvious that she’d love to, but the decision ultimately wasn’t hers.

“I would love that,” Mayim replied to the question. “I like to say, [I’ve] lived season to season since [I was] about 13 years old. So, what I know is I’m hosting until May 6, and beyond that, hopefully, I’ll know more before May 6.”

However, fans are torn on who they’d like to see as the permanent host—Mayim or Ken.

On the one hand, many people support Mayim and hope that her time isn’t coming to an end, like she alluded to.

“Mayim is THE definitive post-Trebek Jeopardy host,” someone wrote on a YouTube video. “Intelligent, upbeat, and loves the job. And prettier than Ken Jennings.”

“I would love to see her host,” another commented.

“SHE HAS MY VOTE,” someone else said.

However, there are many people on Ken’s side too, hoping HE becomes the permanent host.

“I pray Ken Jennings is the permanent full time host of Jeopardy. He does an amazing job,” a fan noted.

“I so much prefer Ken Jennings,” another stated. “He’s professional and a natural. He is always supportive and never puts people down. We are faithful Jeopardy fans but not if Mayim takes over. Please continue with Ken full time.”

And heck—some are torn between the two. After all, they’re both great in different ways: “Ken is polished, much like Alex. But I really enjoy the warm, spontaneous joy Mayim brings with her. Not trying to fill someone else’s shoes – just being completely herself.”
