Folks love to talk about the toxicity of social media  and clearly, there is a lot to be said for that. However, it turns out, social media’s far reach and wild power can absolutely be used for good, too. After seeing this video of her friend’s mom being viciously attacked by a man in NYC, actor Oliva Munn sprang into action, using her platform on social media to plea for swift justice. It didn’t take long before people pitched in, gave whatever information they could to police, and the police were able to identify and arrest the man.

The woman’s daughter comments that this is a good example of people coming together for the greater good and I have to agree with her. This attack is one of many that have resulted from an uptick in aggression toward Asian-Americans in the last year. It is amazing to me that this example of hatred and division was turned around and became a story of love, unity, and justice.
