Many people didn’t do a whole lot of traveling this past year due to the pandemic, but that’s not the only reason that some people are unable to travel. Sometimes other illnesses or surgeries make it impossible to visit loved ones. Then, there’s the cost. Even an economy seat on an international flight can be expensive. For some people, the idea of buying a first class seat would be unthinkable, and a long haul flight in economy might not sound appealing.

Back in 2019, before the pandemic, an 88-year-old former nurse named Violet traveled from London to New York to visit her daughter for the first time in a long time. Due to having knee replacement surgery, she had been unable to visit her daughter for awhile, so it was a very important visit.

Although we’re sure the visit with her daughter was memorable, we’re very sure she’ll never forget the flight home. A flight attendant named Leah Amy decided to share the story of what happened.

Leah Amy started by explaining that as a flight attendant in first class, she has “had the pleasure of looking after footballers, supermodels and some Hollywood movie stars,” yet none of those passengers were her all-time favorite passengers. Her favorite passengers are named Jack and Violet. We’ve already told you about Violet, but now let us tell you about Jack.

Jack was flying home from New York to London with his family. He had purchased first class seats for himself and his family, but he never sat down in his assigned seat. Instead, Leah Amy explained that “Jack went and found violet in economy and swapped seats with her.”

It had been Violet’s dream to fly first class, but she never really thought that dream would come true. She was convinced that her daughter wouldn’t even believe her if she didn’t have proof. Leah Amy wrote, “You should of seen her face, when I tucked her in her bed after supper. She said her daughter won’t believe her, and wanted a ‘selfie’ to prove it, but didn’t have a phone or an email address.” Leah Amy took photos of Violet and mailed them to Violet after the flight.

Meanwhile, Leah Amy shared that Jack’s seat in economy was right next to the toilets, yet, he never complained or even asked for anything. She wrote, “No fuss, no attention, literally did it out of the kindness of his own heart, no one asked him too.” In the comments on Leah Amy’s Facebook post, many people applauded Jack’s thoughtfulness and kindness.

Have you ever flown first class? How would you react if someone gave you their first class seat? How do you think Violet’s daughter reacted when she found out?
