Grandma Looking for a Family for Christmas Removes Ad Due to Internet Hate

They don’t call the holiday season “the most wonderful time of the year” for no reason. Christmas is one of the most joyous holidays there is! Well, if you have a family to spend it with, that is.

One lonesome woman in Tulsa, Oklahoma recently took to Craigslist to help her find joy around the holidays. With no one around in her family, she was having trouble looking forward to Christmas and was hoping she’d be able to spend it with someone—anyone.

The ad, titled “Anybody need a grandma for Christmas?” asked the public if she could celebrate the holiday with another family—but not without something in return. She was willing to do her part if someone would just let her in.

“I have nobody and would really like to be part of a family. I cook and I can cook dinner. I’ll even bring food and gifts for the kids! I HAVE NOBODY AND IT REALLY HURTS! Let me be part of your family.”

Our hearts!

Sadly, the people of internet didn’t all feel warm and fuzzies towards this lonely grandma.

In fact, the response was so negative—accusing the woman of taking advantage of other families—that she was forced to take it down. But before doing so, the grandma was sure to thank the haters for the “extra shot of pain.”

Thankfully, one man named Carson saw the ad and had a more heartfelt reaction. He posted the ad to Facebook, where there was a much more positive reaction from people willing to take the grandma in for the holidays. He was also able to contact the grandma to show her that there were people out there willing to help her.

While she was still a bit skeptical after the initial negative reaction, we’re hoping she’s feeling optimistic enough to join one of the families willing to take her in!

What do you think of this grandma’s ad? How would you have responded?
