Kirk Douglas Had a Nearly 70-Year Marriage With His Wife Anne

Hollywood star Kirk Douglas, known for his role in films such as “Champion,” “The Bad and the Beautiful,” “Lust for Life,” “Gunfight at the O.K. Corral” and, last but not least, “Spartacus,” has recently passed away on February 5, 2020 at the age of 103.

While it’s always sad to see someone so talented and well-known go, it was obvious he lived a good, fulfilled, and, most importantly, loved life.

With such an alarmingly high rate of divorce, it’s always refreshing to see a couple married for decades upon decades—seven to be exact. That’s how long Kirk and his wife Anne were married before he passed.

While Kirk never liked to amount his long marriage to some big secret, he did share with PEOPLE Magazine back in 2015 that one of their ways to stay happy with each other every day was to “solve our disagreements with a kiss.” Hey it can’t hurt, right? (Also, how adorable is that?)

The happy couple raised two songs together, Eric and Peter, along with two sons from Kirk’s previous marriage, Joel and Michael. Anne even had a good relationship with Kirk’s ex-wife, Diana, even accompanying her on lunch outings every so often. How perfect is that?

Of course, like any marriages, the two did have their struggles, including Kirk being unfaithful at one point. Still, their marriage came up on top every single time, thanks to Anne’s accepting and understanding nature.

“Kirk never tried to hide his dalliances from me,” she had once written. “As a European, I understood it was unrealistic to expect total fidelity in a marriage.”
